THE NEW NCAA RULE
STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING ...
AND (probably) THROW OUT EVERYTHING YOU HAVE HEARD AND PLANNED.
In response to the loss of a full spring season due to the coronavirus, the NCAA DIVISION I COUNCIL has extended eligibility for all spring athletes. This will have enormous repercussions for all spring sport athletes and their families. It will affect incoming freshmen; outgoing seniors and everybody in between. It will affect scholarships, playing opportunities. It will even affect the MLB draft and it may even place whole programs in jeopardy.
There will be backlogs of athletes in programs. There will also be a loss of revenue in these programs that will have enormous impact. In the most extreme examples whole programs may end up being eliminated from schools due to revenue losses and subsequent very real financial issues.
