Dave Scrivines is a regional scout for the Boston Red Sox. He handles scouting for minor leagues with a specific emphasis on independent leagues

There are some very limited opportunities in independent baseball at the moment. Joe Torre and the Black Sox are an organization which offers a structure wherein players can not only continue to develop but to "barnstorm" and play games in front of teams and administrators who can make decisions and offer opportunities. The focus for each individual should be on getting an honest evaluation in order to elevate their game in order to compete in this new market.
